Barack Obama’s Vice Presidential running mate, Joe Biden says that paying higher taxes should be considered “patriotic” for wealthy Americans. Uhmm, not so much! While the rich should get taxed more, it’s more patriotic to be proud of a country that is fiscally responsible and doesn’t waste their taxpayers money. Or so we think. What do U think???? People Magazine just released their 10 best dressed list. Here are the ladies who made the cut: Fergie WTF? Fergie? Did she pay someone off to get on to the list? To us, she looks like a mall girl trying too hard. We think Fergie needs to be replaced by Rachel Bilson on the ‘list’. Even though we don’t care for her, Gwennie Paltrow was a killer fashionista this year on the Iron Man promotion tour. Her shoes were ridiculously fabulous! What do U think? Your picks and pans? Has saMAN Ronson been trying to convince girlfriend Lindsay Lohan that she’s a good actress and a respected role-model???? Could saMan also be the one influencing LezLo to get into politics? La Lohan has made it clear that she is a Barack Obama supporter. So much so that reports are she even offered to host a series of events for him in order to appeal to the younger voters. However, having Lindsay Lohan on your campaign just doesn’t sound like a smart idea!!!! A top source in the Obama team reveals that Lindsay “is not exactly the kind of high-profile star who would be a positive for us.” Well, duh. But apparently the campaign gave her a polite “thanks, but no thanks,” response to her offer. Poor LezLo. At least Ugly Betty and her Man want her! [Image via WENN.] Tags: obama
Leonardo DiCaprio, Jodie Foster, Chris Rock and Will Ferrell dug deep and paid the $28.5K to attend the Barbara Streisand-led fundraiser for Barack Obama in LA on Tuesday. According to a new report, Obama opened up and shared his feeling about the ‘concerns’ people have had about the closeness of the race to the White House:

Voting Obama in November? In Los Angeles this evening? Got $28,500 to throw around? Well then you can mosey on over to Beverly Hills for a fundraiser for Barack as only Hollywood can do it. The evening starts with dinner at a Beverly Hills mansion followed by a reception at the Beverly Wilshire hotel, where Barbara Streisand, an ardent Democratic supporter, will perform. Folk singer Ben Harper is also slated to play. Fancy fancy! Obama’s aides are mum on the exact number of attendees expected, as well as which stars are on the pricey guest list. But we do know that about 250 people are expected to dinner and that 900 are expected to see the Funny Girl sing. Together the events are estimated to raise 9 million dollars, more than any candidate has raised in a single day. In Florida on Monday McCain hosted his own buffet dinner at Miami’s InterContinental hotel, culminating in 26.2 million dollars for McCain in Florida to date. In August, McCain experienced his best funraising thus far with 47 million dollars. But, since he accepted public funding, his general election campaign spending is limited to 84 million dollars. Obama, on the other hand, raised a record-breaking 66 million dollars in August. He opted out of public funds, making this one of the most expensive election races yet! [Image via WENN.] Tags: obama
So, did Presidential hopeful John McCain help create the BlackBerry? According to a staffer, he did. Douglas Holtz-Eakin, a top McCain policy adviser, waived his Blackberry around and told reporters today, “You’re looking at the miracle that John McCain helped create.” Riiiight. Did Holtz-Eakin also work for Al Gore when he claimed to have helped invent the internet?????? So did McCain do the same for the Blackberry? Turns out not. After Holtz-Eakin’s comments, another McCain aid dismissed the remark simply as “a boneheaded joke by a staffer.” We don’t think talking to the press and claiming a fact is a “joke.” And, oddly enough, McCain has acknowledge that he doesn’t even know how to use a computer or send out emails. Holtz-Eakin claims that McCain’s “service on and leadership of the Senate Commerce Committee put him at the intersection of a number of economic interests, including the telecommunications industry.” McCains “handling of regulation and deregulation of that industry in particular left him with the skills to help revive the economy amid a mortgage crisis, an energy crisis and a Wall Street meltdown.” Uh huh! Holtz-Eakin added, “He can and has the judgment to put people in place with technical expertise, with the history of experience in the areas necessary, that we’re going to get reforms.” But Matt McDonald, a senior McCain aide, says that McCain “laughed” when he heard the BlackBerry comment. McDonald said, “He would not claim to be the inventor of anything, much less the BlackBerry. This was obviously a boneheaded joke by a staffer.” As for Barack Obama’s side, they couldn’t help but comment. A statement by Obama’s spokesman, Bill Burton said, “If John McCain hadn’t said that ‘the fundamentals of our economy are strong’ on the day of one of our nation’s worst financial crises, the claim that he invented the BlackBerry would have been the most preposterous thing said all week.” And there you have it. In a bid to appeal to religious voters before McCain snaps them up, the Obama campaign is about to launch a new line of “faith merchandise.” No joke! The line includes buttons, bumper stickers, and signs with such rallying slogans as “Believers for Barack,” “Pro-Family Pro-Obama,” and “Catholics for Obama.” The merchandise is intended to be inclusive of all backgrounds of faith, with more specifically-targeted items to be coming soon, such as “Clergy for Change” and “Pro-Israel Pro-Obama.” In the meantime, Obama Deputy Director of Religious Affairs Paul Monteiro said he wanted to get the broader products out “wthout delay.” And with good reason too! The Catholic vote has traditionally selected the winning presidential campaign every race since 1976, with the exception of Al Gore’s 2000 White House bid, so both campaigns have been vying aggressively for it. What do you think of Barack’s attempt to lure the faith vote???? [Image via WENN.] Tags: obama
According to an analysis by The Washington Times of legislative records of the presidential candidates, John McCain’s history of working with Democrats outdoes Obama’s work with Republicans. The silver-haired vet is more bipartisan than the Illinois Senator. For McCain, Democrats populated 55% of his political partners through the past two Congresses, which included some difficult issues such as campaign finance and global warming. For Obama, however, Republicans composed only 13% of his co-sponsors during his time in Senate, which included honoring civil rights icon Rosa Parks with a postage stamp. If you want some more numbers, McCain has voted with the majority of Senate Republicans 85% of the time throughout his Senate career, while Obama voted in favor of his party 97% of the time. So, basically, McCain is a Republican who happens to agree with Democrats more often than Obama, a Democrat, happens to agree with Republicans. So you see, even the Republican presidential candidate is voting Democratic! [Photo via Getty Images.] Tags: obama |
