You know you’ve got a national infrastructure to be proud of when one of the country’s largest cities is pretty much out of gas. From the Tennessean:
East Tennessee and Middle Tennessee both primarily receive fuel supplies through spurs of the Colonial pipeline, which carries refined gasoline from the Texas Gulf Coast to the Northeast. [Hurricane] Ike damaged and knocked out power to many of those refineries, cutting the amount of gasoline fed into the pipeline.
The shortage should be remedied by next week, the paper reports:
The state is scheduled to receive 1.42 million barrels of gasoline over the next week, roughly matching its typical demand of 1.44 million barrels, Heidt said.

As we reported earlier, Travis Barker and celebrity music spinner, DJ AM were critically injured after their Learjet 60 crashed during takeoff from South Carolina’s Columbia Metropolitan Airport, just before midnight on Friday. The plane was headed for Van Nuys, CA.
The former Blink 182 drummer, Baker, and DJ AM are in critical condition and being treated for severe burns at an Augusta, Georgia burn center.
Barker was transported by ground to the burn facility from the site of the crash.
DJ AM was airlifted.
Four people died in the crash.
The deceased have been identified as pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31, of Anaheim Hills, CA co-pilot James Bland, 52, of Carlsbad, CA, Chris Baker, 29, of Studio City, CA, and Charles Still, 25 of Los Angeles, CA.
Chris was Travis’s assistant.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to their families.
The plane crash is still under investigation, however, during a press conference late Saturday morning a spokeswoman for the National Transportation Safety Board revealed that the plane overran the airstrip and proceeded to run into a number of the airport’s lights and antenna.
Air traffic controllers reportedly “saw sparks coming from the runway” before the crash. Investigators don’t know if that was from the aircraft or its engines.
A South Carolina resident named William Owens was driving down a highway next to the airport when he said he saw a fireball go across the road. He told local TV station WIS News 10:
“I didn’t know what I had seen — it was maybe 800 feet in front of me, but as I approached it closer though I made out a fire. By then I was able to see the tail of the jet and I recognized it as a jet,” Owens said.
Owens then described what he saw as he tried to make it to the wreckage.
“It’s in flames and the fuel is running across the road and I had to cross the fuel to get to the two guys that seemed to have been dumped on the highway,” Owens said.
Owens said the two men (Travis and DJ AM!) were running around and stripping down to extinguish themselves. He then asked the men if there was anyone else on board the plane and they said four more were with them.
“We turned to the jet to try and see if there was anything we could do, but immediately, there was nothing anyone could do,” Owens said.
Travis and AM were in Columbia, South Carolina Friday night for a T-Mobile sponsored concert at Five Points, a popular shopping district.
Musicians Perry Farrell and Gavin DeGraw were also part of the festivities. Their reps confirmed to us that they WERE NOT on the plane that crashed.
So sad, sad, sad.

They just don’t make ‘em like they used to!
The original diva, Bette Davis, is being honored starting Thursday with a 42-cent commemorative stamp. The stamp features the actress as she appeared in the 1950 film All About Eve. In the classic movie, she portrays an aging stage actress defending her career from a pushy young starlet.
Davis starred in more than one hundred films since her early start, during which she won acclaim for playing tough unsympathetic characters, and during her career she was nominated for more than ten of her roles. She won an Oscar in 1935 for Dangerous and in 1938 for Jezebel.
Aging with grace and style, she used the experience her years had earned her to portray a tormented former child star in What Ever Happened to Baby Jane, garnering yet another Oscar nomination.
Stirring up drama with a style that Lindsay Lohan or Paris Hilton could only dream of, Davis was rumored to be occasionally difficult to work with and was even involved in a feud with fellow diva Joan Crawford, which both denied.
They were probably lesbian lovers secretly!
Davis died in France in 1989, choosing the epitaph “She did it the hard way” to celebrate her perseverance and success as a woman in a male-dominated industry. She was, after all, the first woman to be honored with the American Film Institute’s Lifetime Achievement Award and the first woman to be president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Her composure, strength, and inexplicable appeal will always be remembered and is even honored in song in the Kim Carnes song Bette Davis Eyes, which was just covered by Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester.
Her son, Michael Merrill, said of the postage stamp commemoration, “She would have been tremendously thrilled.”
Live on, diva!

Adrianne Curry is speaking out again!
The reality TV star and deep thinker is responding to the comments she made about Hurricane Ike in a blog post titled “Hurricane Victims pay for their own rescues?”.
On Monday, Curry once more took to her blog, this time saying:
“People took LSD and read my Hurricane blog
It’s the only way they could have seen words I didn’t type! I have been accused of having no heart, and wanting people to die! I never once said that. My own flesh and blood, my brother, lives in Florida. He tries to ride out stroms too. Guess what? I think he is a dumbass for it, and should pay if he ever has to be rescued. This is my own BROTHER, why would I think BETTER of the folks I don’t even know!
Picture this, firefighters swarm my home and inform me if I do not leave I will die..In 3 days, I will be swallowed by an inferno of death and flames. Can you imagine me saying “You know what guys? I think I’m gonna hunker down here, I’m a California girl now…I can make it through this!”??? Would you feel super terrible for me when I dial 911 minutes later screaming to be saved? Sure you would, that makes you human…but shouldn’t I have to pay for my rescue when I was warned? Not many people try to live through the burning of their homes here, sounds stupid right? What is the difference in a hurricane? Do you know how many times my friends have left their homes, only to find out the fire died out or changed direction? That doesn’t mean they wont leave the next time! Wouldn’t you think we were a bunch of MORONS if you saw us hunkered down in our homes, doing shots, and refusing to leave out of pride?
I would NEVER want a person to die…EVER. I NEVER said it, and I am sorry for those who dropped acid and mushrooms before they read what I had to say and make believed they saw it. I even had a girl wish DEATH on me! Some people make me ashamed to be human! Today on the news, I saw islanders BEGGING for help. My heart gopes out to them…However, when the news reporter asked them why in God’s name they would stay on a SAND BAR island when told they would most certainly die, did they stay…..they said “because this is my home, I am an islander”! Are you fucking serious? These people put themselves, their children, and families in harms way! Now they are begging to be shipped out, why didn’t they leave in the first place???????????????? There is NO logic and NO reason behind these arguements. It is waisting the time of rescue workers, amnd the time of those who have to clean it up. Like we wont have to spend a lot of money cleaning up…like their expensive rescues dont add up!! These people are starving and have no water simply because they thought they would STAY on an island issued CERTAIN DEATH warnings…the FIRST the National Weather Service has EVER issued. When you play with Mother Nature, you will get burned.”
And she’s not even close to being done talking!
CLICK HERE to check out what else Adrianne had to say.
“I could lose EVERYTHING, my home, my car, my records, my paperwork, my passport, trinkets given to me by dead friends and relatives, and every dime I have…as long as In have my health and my family..I will be the richest woman on earth. I know hard work, and I am not afraid to rebuild my life quickly if I lose it all. i am from Tornado Ally. I have MANY friends who lost it all…EVERYTHING..and they got their lives back on track within 1 year of doing nothing but working hard to get there! We are talking F5 tornados, more power than Hurrican Ike had.
Please people, don’t put words in my mouth. Do not think I am heartless for questioning the stupid logic of others. I say what most people don’t have the fucking balls to say…and I am not ashamed of it. In national parks, if you fail to follow park rules and need rescued because of it, you are billed.
People say they cant get gas…they have experienced it before. Guiess what? if an earthquake hits and we have to get out of here, we have GAS CANS in our garage FULL of gas for this VERY reason! PREPARE PEOPLE! I have food and water stock piled in my kitchen to ensure I will live. We have gone through plans together on what we would do, where we would go, how we would meet up, defend ourselves…you name it, we have gone through it! If you KNOW a natural disastor can hit you…P L A N! I would rather sit through 26 hours of traffic then risk my death. I have weapons for anyone who thinks they will take me out of my car…food to last me for MORE than a few weeks…PREPARE.
Might I suggest for anyone living in a hurricane prone zone to have gas cans full of gas in their garage….food stock piled…etc. Make a PLAN with your family, run through it a few times. Think of EVERY SINGLE THING that can be thrown at you in times of crisis and PREPARE! THAT makes sense.
My heart DOES go out to all the people out of homes. I hope you all can rebuild your lives quickly. I am sure 2 years down the line you can look back and be PROUD of how you not only survived, but got your shit back together! I have faith in humanity when it comes to working hard to gain things back for themselves. Maybe the Katrina victims, after three years, have worked hard enough to afford a apartment…and can give their temp living to those who are in need from Ike? I don’t know. I would say three years of government aid is ALOT. I know the Tornado victims don’t get that much where I am from, and they suffer the same, if not worse devestation as Hurrican victims. I don’t have the answers for any of this. I am not a heartless bitch. If I stayed in my home after warnings of certain death…and then needed rescue, I would expect to foot that bill. I would expect my own MOM to do it, I expect my brother in Florida to do it….why wouldn’t I expect the same from everyone else?”

One of the founding members of Pink Floyd, Richard Wright (above right), died Monday at his home in Britain after a long battle with cancer.
He was 65.
Doug Wright, Pink Floyd’s spokesman and of no relation to the artist, said that the family wished to release no further details.
Wright met Roger Waters and Nick Mason in college, when Pink Floyd was known as Sigma 6. Pink Floyd materialized in 1965 with fourth member the late Syd Barrett and quickly became a London psychedelic scene favorite with their jazz-infused rock and trippy multimedia happenings.
Wright played an instrumental role in the music’s development, assisting heavily on some of the band’s most epic creations, such as “Shine On Your Crazy Diamond.” After a string of commercially and critically celebrated albums, including but not limited to 1973’s “Dark Side of the Moon,” tensions arose between Waters, Wright, and David Gilmour. During production of “The Wall” that tension resulted in Wright’s gradual departure from the band.
Wright went on to release one album with a new band called Zee, as well as two solo albums. After Waters left Pink Floyd in 1985, Wright joined the remaining members to record two more albums as Pink Floyd. After 25 years apart, the entire band reunited in 2005 to perform at the “Live 8″ charity concert in London.
Here’s wishing Wright the best at “The Great Gig in the Sky.”

Would you give your pet mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to save it?
How about to a pet that’s not yours?
Well, one very lucky cat owner owes a lot of thanks to a Massachusetts firefighter.
Fireman Al Machado rescued a cat from a burning apartment and that’s when he noticed the kitty couldn’t breathe and needed air.
Machado then began to perform mouth-to-mouth on the cat as he was carrying it outside.
The cat, a tiger angora, thankfully survived the fire, however two other cats died.
Luckily no humans were hurt during the blaze.
Two dogs were also saved with the help of oxygen from the paramedics and animal rescue personnel. Other pets were rescued too, including a ferret and some frogs.
Good thing the frogs didn’t need air!
As for the cause of the fire, apparently two former tenants of the building were arrested and charged with arson.
And, at the end of it all, when Machado was asked what it tates like to give mouth-to-mouth to a cat, he laughed and said, “Like fur.”

Perezcious reader Sahara had a not so nice encounter with Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel on Wednesday night.
She shares with us what happened below - plus her sighting of Lauren Conrad and Chace Crawford. Are they “getting to know” each other????
Says Sahara:
“My friends and I were at southern hospitality last night celebrating a friends going away party. all of a sudden justin timberlake arrived–he was supposed to sit in the corner b/c the table was all set up but he decided to go sit in the private vip room instead–we were so sad because we couldnt stare at his beautiful face! a few hours later there were bodyguards and drivers running around the restaurant around so we knew jt was about to make an exit.
we asked the owner of the bar if a bunch of girls from memphis (us) could get a picture with him to celebrate our friends going back to memphis party and were answered with a stern NO. then 2 more guys come out from the back and yell out to everyone “stay where you are, don’t move, keep this path open”–keep in mind the bar was at about 25% capacity or less. out walks justin and jessica holding hands and jessica with the same bitchy look on her face she ALWAYS has. as soon as my friend snapped the attached picture, jessica stopped in her tracks, turns around, and says to my friend (very loudly and totally trying to cause a scene), ‘that was ruuuuuuuuuuuude!’ even though there were 6 paprazzi outside! anyways, just thought you should know, apparently neither of them want to make their fans happy–they’ve definitely lost me!
after this the bar totally clears out. about 10 minutes later, who rolls up but lc, lo (way smaller in person–ran into her in the restroom and she was super nice) and CHACE CRAWFORD! we almost died because the bar at this point was basically empty except my friends and i. some more model types rolled in and they played flip cup and beer pong the rest of the night–a few times chace even came up to the bar to get pitchers of beer for the drinking games–what a gentleman
I’d love it if you could post about how much of a bitch Jessica is!
Thanks so much!”
Done and done.
