Please, do not ever buy this 2,300 calorie shake from Baskin Robbins, which contains approximately half a pound of sugar. As Consumerist reader Doug points out,

Last time I checked, an adult male should consume 2,500 calories a day, and this shake nearly meets that requirement! The saturated fat present in that shake is over 3 times the RDA of 20 grams, which will put you on the fast track for heart disease. Of course, that’s if the Type 2 diabetes caused by all 266 grams of that sugar doesn’t get you first.

While I believe that people should be held responsible for what they consume, I think corporations need to share just a little responsibility too, and not sell piles of liquid sugar and fat like this. I’d be surprised if even 1 in 100 of the folks that consume that shake know just how bad it is.

On the plus side, it does provide 120% of the RDA for calcium. Oh, and about 1600% of the RDA for Heath candy bars.

(Our tipster, Doug, came up with “ shake.”)

Oh, no! Who did that to her face???? And why????!!! Brit modeling sensation Agyness Deyn was spotted at the Giles Deacon fashion show in London on Tuesday with her ‘fiance’, rocker Albert Hammond, Jr.

What do you think of her overly-powdered make-up look? It makes her look like death!

Verizon, which has no problem helping the government spy on its customers, suddenly turned stupid in June when a police department asked them for help finding the body of a woman who had been abducted on camera. Despite pleas from the woman’s parents, the police, and the FBI, it was four days before a technician was sent out to the appropriate cell tower. When that technician gave the police the location info, they found Kelsey Smith’s body within 45 minutes. Verizon won’t respond to requests for an explanation of why they couldn’t help sooner.

The Johnson County District Attorney, Phill Kline, told Fox News that Verizon not only seemed unhelpful, but possibly incompetent:

We did have a problem with Verizon. We’re talking about 3 hours afterwards, they [the police] were already pushing for this information, with the sergeant speaking to Verizon directly at 2:30 a.m., demanding that this information be provided and it wasn’t.

There was a lack of understanding on their end of what they were incapable of doing. I was on the conference call with Verizon, and we had three technicians telling us different things and using different terms, and we can’t guess their mind. We’ve got a girl that’s missing. We have a girl that’s missing, we have a likely abduction, we need to find her.

Everyone involved in the search has made it clear that Verizon’s incompetence had nothing to do with Kelsey’s , but it could have made the search a lot shorter, and saved a lot of people unnecessary grief. Unfortunately, when Verizon’s president met with Kline and Kelsey’s parents two months later, he brought three lawyers with him for protection.

Kelsey’s mom told Fox, “If [Verizon] brought them because you think we’re here to sue you, that’s not what this is about.” Says Kline, “They didn’t realize that they have an opportunity… to establish a course that leads the way that is right and responsible, and instead they chose a different posture, and that’s unfortunate.”

Kelsey’s mom:

We almost didn’t get to say to goodbye to Kelsey, because of her body decomposition from being out there so long.

Kelsey’s dad:

We never did get a why, that was the thing that was so frustrating, why can’t you do this. That question was never answered.

Metallica’s first album in over five years, Magnetic, is projected to be doing fairly well.

The record is on track to take the number one slot on the top U.S. album charts this week.

Sales data is being released on Wednesday, but according to preliminary estimates, their new album will make it big.

According to many sources, Magnetic is said to have sold 450,000 - 500,000 copies last week, even though the album was only on sale for three days.

Their last album, St. Anger, also sold very well during its first week of release, selling 419,000 copies in just three days as well.

Something that might be helping Metallica is the fact that some stores, like Best Buy, are bundling the album with Guitar Hero and even with some Metallica headphones.

Ticketmaster is also offering a ticket/album deal for buyers.

Will Metallica’s new album will put them back in the spotlight???

We still think most people have lost interest in them.

Breaking new ground and old traditions, modern British artist Damien Hirst raised 70.5 million pounds (That’s 127 million dollars!) with his two day auction entitled Beautiful Inside My Head Forever - a record sale for a solo art auction.

Hirst eclipsed a 1993 sale of 88 pieces by Picasso, which sold for 20 million dollars. And, unlike most work, which is sold through galleries with up to a 50% commission, the bulk of Hirst’s pieces were sold directly.

The auction results revealed a strong art buying market, despite the struggling economy, which pleased Hirst. “I art and this proves I’m not alone and the future looks great for everyone!” he said of the auction.

The work of Damien Hirst deals mostly with through perserved animals and brash displays of extravagance. The Golden Calf - a real calf adorned with 18-carat gold hoofs and horns, crowned with a gold disc, and preserved in a tank of formaldehyde - topped the auction and broke Hirst’s personal best, selling for 10.3 million pounds. The Kingdom, a similarly preserved full tiger shark, sold for 9.5 million pounds.

Who buys that shiz?????

Hirst’s most notorious piece, however, is also considered the most expensive piece in the contemporary art world. For The of God is a platinum skull blinged out with 8,601 diamonds, which sold for 50 million pounds.

You do the math!

Remember melamine, last year’s pet-killing poison? It’s back with a vengeance, and this year it wants Chinese babies. As many as 10,000 may have consumed melamine-laced milk powder, according to authorities. Even worse, a New Zealand company detected the poison weeks ago but couldn’t convince local officials to issue a recall. Only after New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark demanded action did the Chinese recall the milk.

Two brothers surnamed Geng were arrested for “producing and selling toxic and hazardous food,” police in Hebei, the north Chinese province where Sanlu is based, told Xinhua.

From late last year they added melamine to the 3 tonnes of milk they sold on from farmers every day, the report said.

“Geng did so because he suffered losses after milk from his station had been rejected several times by Sanlu Group,” it said.

Farmers or dealers may have diluted milk with water and added melamine, used in plastics, to make the protein level appear higher than it really was.

Thankfully, none of the tainted milk powder was exported to North America.

Liu Changjiang, minister of GAQSIQ (the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine for those who forgot,) strongly condemned the Sanlu Group, which may have known of the contamination back in March, saying:

“It’s shocking. It’s a crime against the people.”

No no, dear friend. After last year’s scandals, not even 10,000 poisoned babies counts as shocking.

(Though, obviously, it’s a terrible tragedy.)

Adrianne Curry is speaking out again!

The reality TV star and deep thinker is responding to the comments she made about Hurricane Ike in a blog post titled “Hurricane Victims pay for their own rescues?”.

On Monday, Curry once more took to her blog, this time saying:

“People took LSD and read my Hurricane blog

It’s the only way they could have seen words I didn’t type! I have been accused of having no heart, and wanting people to die! I never once said that. My own flesh and blood, my brother, lives in Florida. He tries to ride out stroms too. Guess what? I think he is a dumbass for it, and should pay if he ever has to be rescued. This is my own BROTHER, why would I think BETTER of the folks I don’t even know!

Picture this, firefighters swarm my home and inform me if I do not leave I will die..In 3 days, I will be swallowed by an inferno of death and flames. Can you imagine me saying “You know what guys? I think I’m gonna hunker down here, I’m a California girl now…I can make it through this!”??? Would you feel super terrible for me when I dial 911 minutes later screaming to be saved? Sure you would, that makes you human…but shouldn’t I have to pay for my rescue when I was warned? Not many people try to live through the burning of their homes here, sounds stupid right? What is the difference in a hurricane? Do you know how many times my friends have left their homes, only to find out the fire died out or changed direction? That doesn’t mean they wont leave the next time! Wouldn’t you think we were a bunch of MORONS if you saw us hunkered down in our homes, doing shots, and refusing to leave out of pride?

I would NEVER want a person to die…EVER. I NEVER said it, and I am sorry for those who dropped acid and mushrooms before they read what I had to say and make believed they saw it. I even had a girl wish DEATH on me! Some people make me ashamed to be human! Today on the news, I saw islanders BEGGING for help. My heart gopes out to them…However, when the news reporter asked them why in God’s name they would stay on a SAND BAR island when told they would most certainly die, did they stay…..they said “because this is my home, I am an islander”! Are you fucking serious? These people put themselves, their children, and families in harms way! Now they are begging to be shipped out, why didn’t they leave in the first place???????????????? There is NO logic and NO reason behind these arguements. It is waisting the time of rescue workers, amnd the time of those who have to clean it up. Like we wont have to spend a lot of money cleaning up…like their expensive rescues dont add up!! These people are starving and have no water simply because they thought they would STAY on an island issued CERTAIN DEATH warnings…the FIRST the National Weather Service has EVER issued. When you play with Mother Nature, you will get burned.”

And she’s not even close to being done talking!

CLICK HERE to check out what else Adrianne had to say.

“I could lose EVERYTHING, my home, my car, my records, my paperwork, my passport, trinkets given to me by dead friends and relatives, and every dime I have…as long as In have my health and my family..I will be the richest woman on earth. I know hard work, and I am not afraid to rebuild my life quickly if I lose it all. i am from Tornado Ally. I have MANY friends who lost it all…EVERYTHING..and they got their lives back on track within 1 year of doing nothing but working hard to get there! We are talking F5 tornados, more power than Hurrican Ike had.

Please people, don’t put words in my mouth. Do not think I am heartless for questioning the stupid logic of others. I say what most people don’t have the fucking balls to say…and I am not ashamed of it. In national parks, if you fail to follow park rules and need rescued because of it, you are billed.

People say they cant get gas…they have experienced it before. Guiess what? if an earthquake hits and we have to get out of here, we have GAS CANS in our garage FULL of gas for this VERY reason! PREPARE PEOPLE! I have food and water stock piled in my kitchen to ensure I will live. We have gone through plans together on what we would do, where we would go, how we would meet up, defend ourselves…you name it, we have gone through it! If you KNOW a natural disastor can hit you…P L A N! I would rather sit through 26 hours of traffic then risk my death. I have weapons for anyone who thinks they will take me out of my car…food to last me for MORE than a few weeks…PREPARE.

Might I suggest for anyone living in a hurricane prone zone to have gas cans full of gas in their garage….food stock piled…etc. Make a PLAN with your family, run through it a few times. Think of EVERY SINGLE THING that can be thrown at you in times of crisis and PREPARE! THAT makes sense.

My heart DOES go out to all the people out of homes. I hope you all can rebuild your lives quickly. I am sure 2 years down the line you can look back and be PROUD of how you not only survived, but got your shit back together! I have faith in humanity when it comes to working hard to gain things back for themselves. Maybe the Katrina victims, after three years, have worked hard enough to afford a apartment…and can give their temp living to those who are in need from Ike? I don’t know. I would say three years of government aid is ALOT. I know the Tornado victims don’t get that much where I am from, and they suffer the same, if not worse devestation as Hurrican victims. I don’t have the answers for any of this. I am not a heartless bitch. If I stayed in my home after warnings of certain death…and then needed rescue, I would expect to foot that bill. I would expect my own MOM to do it, I expect my brother in Florida to do it….why wouldn’t I expect the same from everyone else?”

So guess what?

It’s finally Sexy Sarah’s first big day on her own!

Like Sadie Sandler a preschooler armed with mother’s sack lunch, Palin ventured to the swing-state of Colorado on her first trip outside of her home state without McCain.

The recently selected vice presidential candidate and current governor, who can boast only limited experience outside of Alaska, was held from view while aides rushed to update her on a variety of issues.

Now remember, if ever you should falter, just remind everyone that you’re a woman!!!!

You’ve got a vadge!

Palin spoke mainly on the issues of energy, government reform, and helping families with special needs, as Palin’s four-month-old son has Down Syndrome, and the crowd cheered when she declared, “too often the government is the problem” rather than the solution. Yeah, like when it restricts stem cell research, which advocates claim could be the key to unlocking treatments and cures to numerous diseases.

Sexy Sarah also claimed that ’s proposals to raise income, payroll, investment income, business, and taxes is “not the way you grow the economy,” but independent groups such as the Tax Policy Center concluded that four out of five American households would actually receive tax breaks. She declared her support for McCain’s “‘above all’ strategy for energy independence.” In other words, drilling Alaska for all its worth.

Palin said McCain liked her idea of placing Washington’s checkbook online, so “everyone can see where their money goes,” just like she did in Alaska.

That’s cute, but honey, it ain’t dark in Washington half the year like it is in Alaska.
